So here is what my dream wishes from Budget-2011, hope they will come true.
Food Prices: A major concern for most of the population of country. If food is over priced as it did happen a month ago, then consumer will suffer. If the food prices are very low, a current situation, then former community is suffering. We need proper technologies and implementation ideas to store excess food to make sure that the price will not go very low when food is in abandon, because this is when formers sell food at a very low price and later after couple of months, the same commodity will be so very over priced that consumer can not just consume it any more. So if we have proper storage mechanism then we can prevent both the extreme situations.
Employment:
Government is taking measures to help unskilled labours to provide work for at least 100 days, NREGA, really good initiative and fairly good implementation results. But need more focus on effective controlling measures to make sure plans on paper will be actually implemented.
Another concern is educated middle class employment, I can still see many of my friends after so called degrees and diplomas struggling to get hold of a job. How do we improve their employable quationt. On one hand organizations are struggling to get quality professionals to work for and on other hand graduates out of universities do not have job in their hands. We need plans to improve education quality, we need to improve enthusiasm of students to learn by them self more and more. The entire education system is running behind marks on a paper and then a job, but we know marks are not effectively describing a student's ability any more.
We also need concrete measures to develope entrepreneurial skills in student community, why are we running behind a job from American, why can not our young community be energised to start a own shop. I do not here any student dreaming about his own shop/company/factory, all of us ( including me) are focusing hard to get a better job, which is not good for an aspiring super power of the century.
How about employment of retired people? Not all of them have savings, even if they have some help from working organization that money was spent on daughter's marriage. They also deserve to spend rest of their life with pride. This set involves women as well, these are the people who hesitate to work out side and have never done so in their life time. But now since husband is dead, they need some help to be employable. I do not say give some money, better give a suitable job, that will give money and help them to curb their loneliness. We need to device ways to employee these moms and pops. We need to device ways to identify such people in need and truthfully help them.
Living conditions:
How can we help to improve living conditions of millions in our villages or even in cities? Money matters a lot, better banking facility is still a dream for most of our people in non-metros. We need to device plans to be able reach and provide secured money lending, savings accounts facility to these people. It is still a tough job to be able to take a personal loans in distict places, but here in Bangalore every day I get a call from International bank asking to take loans. How can we make these banks to reach those people in need. I am sure those humble people will have better rate of re-payment and will be loyal to banks unlike people in metros.
Coming to problems of those people who have some money:
With ever rising prices of building material I will not be able to build my dream house even if I save for 40 years. We need measures to encourage alternate and cost effective building materials. Now such a technique can be of Indian origin or from outside, like Wood Houses. These techniques are promising but some of them require subsidies in terms of less import duties to make sure the newer ways are affordable to middle class first home and not just to second home.
We need measures to control fees that some of the so called big hospitals put on patients. Coming to the question of why people go to these hospitals even though they know that they are over priced. Because public health care system has failed to provide improved health care facilities according to the need of the hour.
With current global situations, it is impossible to control prices of petroleum. So we need heavy advertisement for greener and cheaper technologies. We need to bring down installation costs of some of these greener technologies, like solar. The only hurdle in fixing solar facility to my home is its initial cost, which is close to 10 times as compared to getting an electricity connection to light my house.
Education has become business, let it be, because only than there will be competition and only then better education but we need to fix a upper boundary for fees which can be demanded by an institution. My expenditure of entire studies ( UG and PG) is equal to my niece' admission fees to lower primary school admission. I mean, it was shocking to hear that, please implement some measures to control this. Even PG education is over charged, instead of concentrating on education they are spending more money on brand building than demand heavy fees from students.
Millians of fingers are crossed, with N number of expectations, so Mr. FM, please deliver your best THE NATION IS WITH U & WAITING TO SEE YOUR WORK...
